First we set
up your website properly to register with the top search engines.
Page Titles
At the top of each web page there will be
an appropriate page title that your visitors will see in the
Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers.
Meta Tags
Next, we select or help you select the best
possible meta-tags and insert them into your source code.
Because meta-tags appear in the source code, which is how
the pages, themselves, are built, your visitors never see
them.
Keywords, Key Phrases, and Descriptions
So, exactly what are these Meta Tags? Meta-tags
consist of an eight to ten word description, plus eight to
ten keywords, or even better, key phrases, (groups of two
or three words) that people tend to enter into the search
engines to find a website for a company that does what you
do.
Quality not Quantity
Eight to ten relevant key phrases that target
a specific niche market are far superior to an unlimited number
of key phrases that merely serve to dilute the effectiveness
of your primary relevant keywords.
How to View Your Meta Tags
So, what if you want to see what you have
now for meta-tags? Simply open Internet Explorer, select View
from the pull-down menu, and choose Source. This will open
a new window that will display your source code. You will
be able to easily see whether or not you have keywords and
a description now.
If you have them now, at least you're on the
right track! We will critique, evaluate, and optimize your
meta-tags for optimum search engine results!
We will select the best possible key phrases
and descriptions based on the products and/or services you
offer and subject to your approval, insert them into your
source code.
Relevancy
We will select three primary key phrases,
again subject to your approval, and then optimize your site
for those phrases.
Matching Your Text to Your Key Phrases
The text on your home page must match your
three main key phrases. Your primary key phrase must appear
in your home page three times. Your second and third key phrases
must appear in your home page text twice each.
Matching Your Text to Your Description
The first text on your home page must also
match your description. This works even better if your description
is placed above your logo.
Alt Tags
Alt tags, the short text that appears
when you mouse-over a logo or graphic, will be placed on every
page. The text for your alt tags will be taken from your three
main key phrases.
